Letting Go Of Burdens

Our lives today are filled with so many things we need to accomplish daily. We continually take on more and more which can weigh on us and make our hearts heavy.

We carry burdens that people see and burdens that people don't see. Often times these burdens become too much for us to carry. That's when we need to take it to Jesus.

Matthew 11:28 says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Oh, how reassuring this is. We can let go of our burdens, lay them at Jesus' feet and He will take care of it for us.

This is a scripture that provides me with lots of comfort. I am a super busy mom with two teenage boys. I love them with all my heart but as they are growing into men, it's hard for me to let go.

At the same time, I realize that they need to be who God created them to be. When my children and I are in conflict, I sometimes have to just go to my prayer closet, open up my Bible and let God take over.

After all, He is the one who created not only me but my kids and He knows how best to reach them. When we are raising our kids, we don't always know how we're doing and that's when we can take it to God and let Him do His thing.

What's amazing is that after I spend some time in prayer, the burden is lifted, I don't feel like a horrible mom (cuz sometimes, I really, really do) and I remember once again that God is in control. I find the rest I need and the reassurance I need. Moms have it hard, we have so much to remember all the time and we do our best to keep our families healthy and whole but we can't forget we don't have to do it alone.

We can seek God and allow Him to wrap us up in love and tenderness.
