I did a lot of research before releasing this post to be sure I brought you accurate and affordable information. The cost of essential oils can be high but the ones listed are effective and affordable.

The top choices I discovered to be beneficial for treating gastrointestinal distress are

  • Grapefruit

  • Dill

  • Sweet Orange

  • Ginger

  • Peppermint

While each of these can improve digestive issues, they all have additional attributes. Before we get into those, I would like to take a moment to recommend Plant Therapy for their amazing line of high-quality and affordable essential oils.

I’ve used many different brands of essential oils and this is one I go back to often. They even put a label on kid safe essential oils and they offer sets such as a “Honeymoon Set” or “Wellness Sets.”

Orange essential oil is my favorite essential oil. The uplifting scent is so inviting and makes me smile. This oil is used for constipation, diarrhea, and digestive problems. In addition, it’s used for the skin, cleaning, as an air freshener, for colds, and as a natural antidepressant. The essential oil is obtained by cold-expression or steam distillation of the outer peel.

Ginger essential oil is well known for it’s ability to soothe an upset stomach. It is the most expensive oil on this list but it’s definitely worth it. One drop goes a long way. While this oil is known to calm the stomach, it is also used for for liver issues, hemorrhoids, relieving aches and pains, and is considered a disinfectant as well as an antibacterial.

Peppermint Essential oil is also excellent for soothing the stomach. It smells so fresh and clean and makes a great addition to hair products.
